This palatial handmade-to-order 11.8" x 11.8" square lampshade features the "Eskimo" character from a hand-colored Karl Joseph Brodtmann stone lithograph from H.R. Schinz's 1840 Naturgeschichte und Abbidungen des Menschen. This man could be of Siberian Yupik, Inupiat or Inuit descent. . Brodtmann was part of the post-Linnaean Age of Enlightenment, hand-colouring sets for biologists and the aristocracy. Brodtmann's work displayed a remarkable sense of aesthetics and scientific accuracy. This handmade shade features a high-end, semi-translucent, textured textile and a fire-rated interior lining. Available as a ceiling or table shade, fits standard light fittings.
